This year probably won’t be as easy for Shang Fulin as 2007 was. As the head of the China Securities Regulatory Committee (CSRC) since 2002, Shang stewarded the state-owned share reforms that were largely responsible for the recent meteoric rise of the stock markets. Last year both he and China reaped the rewards for his success – China, with a more than doubling of the Shanghai Composite Index, and Shang, with a promotion to the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party.
